ANALYSIS

The analysis section allows you to choose an item from any of the three tables.  You can choose upto 5 items, but they must all be from the same table. Please remember not choose a non-numeric item, even though they show up.

INSTALLATION

1. Obtain NRI CDrom containing both program and data.   Optionally, obtain the STATSGO Data Analyst CD with data.

2. Copy from the program directory of the NRI cd:

Copy nriport.avx to C:\esri\av_gis30\arcview\ext32\nriport.avx where C: is replaced by the disk letter for which you have installed ArcView.

Copy the nriport directory to C:\esri\av_gis30\arcview\ext32\nriport\ where C: is replaced by the disk letter for which you have installed ArcView.

Thats it, Run ArcView and load the extension.

KNOWN ERRORS

There are several known errors in this program:

Problem: In the selection criteria it is possible to have the word "Relationship" to show up in the Item 2's equation line. It will not cause problems unless you have the second item selected.  Solution: De-select the second item check-box, reselect it and select your items again.

Problem: It is possible to select items that are not numeric to summarize.  This will cause an error later when the summarization tries to take place.  Solution: Don't select non-numeric items.

LOADING STATSGO COVERAGES

There are several issues regarding loading STATSGO coverages into a NRI Port -> project.  1st,  you will have to remove the NRI data CD and replace it with the STATSGO data CD.  You MUST let the STATSGO cd mount before continuing. If you don't, then the process will error and the program will fail.  It will force you to copy the STATSGO coverage to your hard disk so that you can put back in the NRI cdrom.  This must be done because you can't have data from two cdroms being accessed at the same time.

MAPPING ITEMS

When mapping items, you'll note that only the most recent items calculated appear in the legend dialog.  If you wish to view items you mapped earlier, then you will need to do so manually, by joining the old result table to the statsgo coverage.  You will also note that selecting the normalization seems to cause problems in the map output, this seems to be a problem of ArcView itself, I suggest you leave normalization to none.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selectio criteria dialog works by building a query and then having the user place the query into the equation box.  You can have up to 2 equations with a and/or relationship between them.  The query is then saved and used when the user runs the analysis.  You must be aware that if the query built is invalid, then the analysis will be invalid and an error will occur.
